I AM GROOT was founded on a single conviction: that the Volkswagens built between 1980 and 1990 represent some of the finest automotive engineering ever produced — and they deserve to be preserved with the care they were built with.

Every car that enters our workshop is treated as a piece of history. Whether it's a rust-bitten Golf or a weathered Transporter, we see what it once was and bring it back with surgical precision.

Complete strip-down and rebuild. Rust removal, panel repair, primer, and a finish that matches — or surpasses — factory specification.

Golf / GTI

From Mk1 to Mk6. The iconic hatchback in all its generations, from air-cooled legend to modern hot hatch.

1990–2005
Corrado

The overlooked superstar. VR6 or G60 — we restore Corrados to the showstoppers they were born to be.

1984–2002
Scirocco

Giugiaro's masterpiece deserves masterful restoration. We're among the few specialists for the Mk1 and Mk2.

1988–2010
Passat

Saloon, estate, or variant — B3 through B6 Passats are a staple of our workshop.

1980–1990
Polo

Small but significant. Mk1 through Mk5, including the rare Polo G40 and Polo GTI models.

Vento / Jetta

The saloon sibling to the Golf, often overlooked and all the more rewarding to restore properly.
